On November 1, Dalian Customs disclosed to the public that Dalian Customs had recently seized about 200 kilograms of drug cocaine in a case of drug smuggling by a large foreign ship.

This is the largest number of cocaine smuggling cases seized in Northeast China since the founding of New China.

Recently, Dalian Port Customs received a report from a shipping company that, while carrying out maintenance operations on a foreign ship, several suspicious black travel bags were found in a certain cabin, suspected of containing explosives or drugs.

Dalian Customs immediately dispatched customs officers to the scene of the incident.

After investigation, there were a total of 6 suspicious travel bags in the cabin. The surfaces were covered with dirt. They were all wrapped in hemp rope nets, and there were a certain number of suspicious plastic-sealed blocks inside.

After investigation, the staff first ruled out the suspicion of explosives.

Subsequently, the anti-smuggling police opened the plastic packaging of one of the suspicious items to take a sample, and used the drug detection board to conduct an on-site test. The result showed a positive reaction.

Customs officers searched and counted 6 suspicious travel bags and found that there were 150 plastic-encapsulated suspicious items in them, weighing about 200 kilograms.

After identification by the Dalian Public Security Bureau, all the above suspicious items were drug cocaine.

Dalian Customs immediately implemented control over the ship’s 21 crew members and the contents and cargoes, and initiated a response mechanism with local public security. The Narcotics Detachment and Criminal Police Detachment of the Dalian Public Security Bureau dispatched elite police to board the ship to carry out investigation work.

After further investigation, the ship involved is a 90,000-ton foreign bulk carrier with a total of 21 crew members. It set off from a port in Africa in April this year and passed through multiple ports in Africa, Southeast Asia and other regions before finally calling. A shipyard in Dalian carried out maintenance.

Currently, the case is under further investigation.

According to the latest research by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, since the outbreak of the new crown in 2020, countries have strengthened border personnel and transportation control, and traditional land and air drug trafficking have been hit hard. In contrast, drug trafficking by sea But it is becoming more and more rampant.

Dalian Customs stated that in the next step, Dalian Customs will continue to increase intelligence operations and investigations, strengthen international law enforcement cooperation, and strictly prevent the smuggling of foreign drugs into the country through international ships.
