At Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, the work of "Yukitsuri" to protect tree branches from the weight of snow began during the winter.

"Yukitsuri" is a work to reinforce trees with pillars and ropes before winter to prevent the branches of trees from breaking due to the weight of wet snow peculiar to the Hokuriku region.

On the 1st, 12 gardeners worked at "Karasaki Pine", which boasts the best branching in Kenrokuen and is said to be about 180 years old.

One of the gardeners climbs a 14-meter-high stanchion along the trunk of a tree, hangs a rope radially from above, and the other gardeners below tie it to a pine branch to form a cone. I prepared it.

A woman in her 60s who was visiting from Miyagi prefecture for sightseeing said, "I was very lucky to see Kenrokuen when I visited it. I was impressed by the craftsmen working in high places."

Akira Oshino, director of the Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Management Office in Ishikawa Prefecture, said, "It's not as good as before the spread of the new corona infection, but I'm glad that many tourists see Yukitsuri. I really want you to come visit us. "

The work of hanging snow in Kenrokuen will continue until mid-December.
