American actor Alec Baldwin said the shocking death of cinematographer

, who was killed when he fired a prop pistol on set, was a
"one in a billion" episode
, according to images aired by TMZ on Saturday.

spoke to multiple reporters who intercepted them in
Manchester, Vermont
, in what are the actor's first comments on camera since Hutchins died on the set of the western
'Rust'
on October 21.
Previously, Baldwin had expressed his grief over the tragedy on Twitter, adding that he was cooperating with police investigating the death.
"She was my family," he
told reporters.
"There are accidents on film sets from time to time, but nothing like this. This is an episode of one in a billion."
Since the incident, calls have increased to improve gun control on Hollywood sets.
Baldwin said he was "extremely interested" in this initiative, but
did not say if he would ever work with
firearms in a study again.
He also confirmed that production of 'Rust', suspended immediately after Hutchins' death, would not resume.
Baldwin, who was a producer and lead actor on the film, fired a live bullet from a
Colt. 45
during rehearsal on the set of "Rust."
The bullet went through Hutchins' body and hit director
Joel Souza
in the shoulder.
She died and he was treated at the hospital for the wound and released.
Baldwin, who had been told by the film's assistant director that the
gun was "cold,"
meaning he did not have a bullet in the chamber, said he could not comment on the ongoing investigation.
The film's gunsmith said in a statement Friday that he
"had no idea" where the live bullets came
from.
He spoke after days of various reports surfacing suggesting security breaches on set.
Baldwin recalled that the day he arrived in
Santa Fe he
had taken Hutchins and Souza out to dinner.
"We were a very, very well meshed team, shooting a movie together until this horrible accident happened," he said.
He further claimed to have met Hutchins' wife and son, describing them as
"overwhelmed with grief
.
