Three days before the opening of the Sharjah International Book Fair in its 40th session, publishing houses participating in the fair finished their final touches to receive visitors in their pavilions, while exhibitors confirmed their optimism for the extraordinary success of the current session, especially after the world recovered from the “Corona” pandemic, which prompted them to Double the number of titles offered to meet the expected increasing demand.

The Sharjah Book Authority announced a number of logistical developments and services that guarantee the audience of the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair, through which modern technologies are invested in serving the masses to save time for them, whether in reading the exhibition’s agenda and events, or exhibitors’ pavilions and service facilities, and it organizes school students’ visits for exhibition stands.

In addition, the exhibition developed the information devices distributed at the doors of the halls by providing them with features that facilitate their use, while providing the ability to request assistance through the information devices in the event of loss of property belonging to visitors, as well as providing additional spaces for car parking services.

In addition, publishers participating in the exhibition confirmed to "Emirates Today" that hope for the return of cultural life to normal will be born during the current session of the exhibition, stressing that the UAE is the largest supporter of literature and culture in general.

Lina Amer, an official at Dar "Zama'a" for printing and publishing from Syria, said that the UAE is one of the largest supportive countries for the publisher, which helped them renew hope for the return and continuity of this industry during the "Corona" pandemic, especially when all publishing houses were exempted from the wages of wings in previous session.

She stated that the publishing sector is one of the most prominent sectors facing difficulties and challenges, requiring facilities in marketing operations, so the support of governments generates hope for the continuation, success and prosperity of this sector.

While the owner of the Jarir Bookstore at the Sharjah Book Fair, Wael Moussa, confirmed that the current session comes with a lot of hopes to compensate for the repercussions of the “Corona” pandemic on this sector, so we were keen to participate with many new titles and recent publications, to meet the increased demand for books This year.

And the director of publishing at the Center for Arabic Literature in Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Al-Bashouri, pointed out that the center was keen to increase the number of titles during the current session, by 50% compared to last year, to encourage authors to issue their books, stressing that the exhibition’s absorptive capacity will return to its previous era before the “Corona” pandemic.

And "Emirates Today" monitored, during a field tour around the exhibition, that publishing houses had finished putting their books in full and putting the final touches, while all the exhibition's work was about to end in preparation for receiving visitors on the third of next month.
