Even if it is increasing, vaccination is still in the minority in Guadeloupe, where certain trades, including restaurateurs, forced to apply the health pass, expressed their anger this Thursday in Pointe-à-Pitre.

“When the health pass was applied in France, the vaccination rate was over 60%.

Here we are always at a small third which reduces the potential of customers.

Considering the vaccination rate of Guadeloupeans, we cannot live, ”explains David Drumeaux, organizer of a spontaneous movement which brought together a large hundred restaurateurs in front of the sub-prefecture of Pointe-à-Pitre.

Lifting of certain contract suspensions

This positioning is not "that of the federation of restaurateurs of the islands of Guadeloupe, which nevertheless understands the real difficulties of these establishments", explains Rudy Nainan, the president of the association of professionals in the sector.

On the side of caregivers, vaccination is progressing.

"There are more than 73% of caregivers, all categories combined, who are now vaccinated," said Valérie Denux, director general of the ARS on Wednesday evening.

She welcomed the lifting of numerous contract suspensions, "thanks to daily regularizations" which, according to her, "allow us to cope with the demand for care".

However, a few pockets of resistance continue to shake health establishments, such as blockades of establishments denounced by the CHU.

No mediation on vaccination

Another example, in Côte-sous-le-Vent, the supervisory board of the small hospital of Bouillante, chaired by Thierry Abelli, president of the Community of Agglomeration of South Basse-Terre, took a motion "asking to suspend the measures. of suspensions (…) with regard to the vaccination obligation ”.

In a press release, the ARS recalled Wednesday that "the supervisory board cannot take such motions asking the director of the establishment to contravene the law and thus put her in difficulty".

The ARS also indicates that "the favorable evolution" of the rates of "vaccination of health professionals" cannot be "compared with those of other territories" and does not "require mediation", although this request has been made. formulated by the deputy Olivier Serva to the Minister of Health.
