By taxi, a new service will be introduced in which users can ride together and the fare per person will be reduced.

The "carpooling service" newly introduced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for taxis is a shared ride service in which the app searches for people who go in the same direction when a user enters a boarding location and destination using a smartphone dispatch app or the like and calls a taxi. It is a mechanism that can be done.

In the service, before boarding, it is necessary to agree to the carpool by presenting the route based on the place and destination of the carpool partner as well as the fare.

As a general rule, the fare is divided according to the boarding distance of each user, and it is possible to lower the fare compared to using it alone.

However, there is also a risk that the work place and home where the carpooling partner will get on and off will be known, so taxi operators are required to show the gender of the other party before boarding and to call attention through the vehicle dispatch application.

The new service will be operational from the 1st of next month, but according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the actual service is expected to start in a few months because it will require the development of a vehicle dispatch application system.
