You can buy only one shoe for this year's Double 11 and set up an exclusive venue for special products

"My dream is not big, it is to find someone as big as my foot to buy shoes." Liu Wenyan from Guizhou was amputation in a car accident when she was 4 years old. The problem of buying shoes has plagued her for 33 years. "New shoes have to be worn. Throw one out. Why can't you just buy one shoe?" This is a question that most people ignore, but it is a real demand of a group.

More and more people are starting to take action.

Recently, the China Disabled Persons’ Welfare Foundation under the China Disabled For the disabled, we provide a single shoe sales service for the disabled.

The demand for "a shoe" is not a minority among 1.4 billion people

"Shoes are not cheap, it's a pity to throw one. Can you ask the manufacturer, think about our group, let us spend less money?" The "One Shoe Project" originated from Tmall Xiaoer Wang Shengtianhe In a small chat with an amputee friend, the other party raised a question that Wang Shengtian had never paid attention to before.

Shoes have been sold in pairs since ancient times, but, "It has always been so, right?" Wang Shengtian and his team began to investigate the needs of the physically handicapped. They went deep into the life of this group and found that there was a single shoe purchase. There are many people who appeal, and behind this long-ignored detail, there are many unspeakable sadness.

The Guangxi girl Gui Yuna and Liu Wenyan are the same age. At the age of 7, she lost her right leg in a car accident.

She worked silently with one leg, won the National Paralympic Games high jump championship, and broke the world record for the same event in one fell swoop.

In 2008, Gui Yuna became the torchbearer of the Beijing Olympics. Her pictures of walking on crutches in one hand and holding the torch in the other have touched countless people.

Gui Yuna also had trouble buying shoes, "Once upon a time, street shoe vendors piled up shoes for sale, and I would secretly take two left-footed shoes."

Gui Yuna said that this is still the "secret" in the champion's heart.

Seven Footwear Brands Launched "One Shoe"

Statistics show that there are more than 24 million people with physical disabilities in China.

They need barrier-free facilities as well as more suitable commercial services.

Within Tmall, the "One Shoe Project" was put on the agenda, and the China Association for the Promotion of Disabled Undertakings became one of the initiators, and more and more brands took the initiative to participate.

"Behind the'One Shoe Project' is not just a pair of shoes being disassembled and sold. The adjustment of supply chain, design, inventory, stocking, etc. is a lot more work, but everything is worth it." Reebok brand person in charge said.

This demand has also been considered before, and the special consumers that can be served by offline specialty stores are limited, and the cost is very high.

On the e-commerce platform, a flagship store serves users across the country. These problems are no longer a problem. "It's time to do this."

At present, the official flagship stores of the above seven brands have launched a shoe product during the "Double 11" period, and consumers can place an order directly online.

In addition, searching for "One Shoe Project" in the Taobao APP can directly reach the exclusive venue.

E-commerce platforms will pay attention to the needs of more people with disabilities

The "One Shoe Project" is just a charity attempt.

On the e-commerce platform, there are still many niche products, including appliances for the blind, lip masks, and silicone prostheses.

Although they are only a few, they still shine.

Hearing impaired Du Yinling, who performed "Hello Stars" at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, is the first group of hearing impaired people in China to pass the general examination and obtain the teacher qualification certificate.

Over the years, she has taught sign language through the online class opening system, trained many sign language interpreters, and provided information barrier-free services in all walks of life.

In 2018, Du Yinling and 4 students opened the first Taobao sign language translation shop, which specializes in sign language teaching, translation, confession, song translation and other services.

"The online store is a bridge between the hearing impaired and the general public. Through this bridge, we can increase the attention of ordinary people to the hearing impaired, and let everyone see the special needs of the disabled." Du Yinling said.

During Tmall’s “Double 11” period in 2021, these special products will have exclusive venues for those who really need them to find them more easily.

According to survey data from the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, there are currently 85 million persons with disabilities in China. With the development of social welfare and the gradual improvement of the guarantee system, education, employment and poverty alleviation for persons with disabilities continue to improve.

The relevant person in charge of the China Association for the Promotion of Disabled Affairs said: "The'One Shoe Project' is just the beginning. We hope that there will be more cooperation, inspire more market forces to participate in public welfare undertakings, eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and provide more for the disabled. How warm and caring."
