Texas.. 3 children found abandoned with their brother's body

Texas police have arrested a 35-year-old woman accused of abandoning her four children for months, and her husband, who is suspected of killing a boy last year, the local police chief said Tuesday.

The three children were found on Sunday left for months in an apartment without electricity, next to the body of their brother.

And they got food from neighbours.

The 15-year-old eldest son told the police that "his nine-year-old brother has been dead for a year and his body is in the next room."

Stepfather Brian Coulter, 31, was charged with the murder of the boy, who died in 2020 at the age of eight.

The mother, Gloria Williams, was also accused of causing a child's negligent injury by depriving him of health care and supervision.

And Harris County Police Chief Ed Gonzalez indicated on Twitter that further charges would be brought later.

He pointed out that the couple left the apartment "apparently several months ago."

Gonzalez described during a press conference after discovering the facts, the situation as "terrible and tragic" for these three children who "were living in miserable conditions."

He explained that the firstborn was doing his best to take care of his two younger brothers, aged ten and seven.

However, the two children "suffer from nutritional deficiencies and appear to have physical injuries."

In May 2020, the three children stopped attending school.

An investigation has been opened against the mother related to school absenteeism since 2019, before it was terminated due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The case is still under investigation and has been assigned to the Criminal Police and Child Abuse Unit.
