Mafraq Festival for Arabic Poetry kicks off in Jordan

The activities of the sixth edition of the Mafraq Festival for Arabic Poetry were launched at the Royal Cultural Center in the Jordanian capital Amman, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, in the presence of a delegation from the Department of Culture in Sharjah, headed by the head of the department, Abdullah Al Owais. Jordanian Culture, Hazza Al Barari, the UAE Ambassador to Jordan, Ahmed Ali Al Balushi, and a large audience of poetry lovers in Jordan.

The celebration began with the opening of an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy for a group of Jordanian calligraphers, and a tour of the exhibition of publications and publications of the Sharjah Department of Culture in various cultural fields.

Al Barari said that the Jordanian Ministry of Culture attaches great importance to Sharjah's initiatives, which culminated in a memorandum of understanding between the two sister governments, and is the first founding activities that come from Sharjah, stressing that culture is the real ambassador for communication.

For his part, Al Owais said: "The march of Arab poetry in Jordan is strengthened by the role he plays in Mafraq. During the past six years, the House has been a platform for Jordan's poets and the people of Arab countries."

The poets Abdullah Hamadeh, Karama Shaaban, Tayseer Al-Shamasin, and Ali Shunainat presented examples of their emotional, patriotic and social poems, which won the admiration of the attendees, and the ceremony concluded with an artistic performance by Naya Band.
