Wai Ching Soh was the first to climb the 1576 steps of the Empire State Building on Tuesday, but he was not entirely satisfied.

“The time wasn't good enough.

I will probably have to compete again, ”said the tower runner from Malaysia after running the stairs in Manhattan.

Soh had completed the 86 floors in ten minutes and 46 seconds.

Meanwhile, the American Cindy Harris took first place in the women with a time of 14 minutes and one second.

Soh and Harris were among about 200 stair runners from more than 20 countries who competed on the steps of the Empire State Building in the 43rd run-up.

Due to Corona, the competition, which dates back to 1978, was canceled in 2020.

The 27-year-old Soh had used the break to make it into the Guinness World Records book.

With 1295 meters in less than an hour, which the sports scientist covered on the steps of the Four Seasons in Kuala Lumpur in November, he broke the record of the Spaniard David Robles Tapia from 2019.
