On October 26, the director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Wu Zhihua, told reporters that the project has received strong support from the central government and is a very important cultural project in Hong Kong. The interior decoration project is expected to be completed in April 2022 and curated in May 2022. The work will begin as scheduled in July 2022.

The project was undertaken by China State Construction International Corporation, with a total construction area of ​​44,000 square meters. It is a museum project jointly established by the Beijing Palace Museum and the West Kowloon Cultural Administration of Hong Kong. It is the first cooperation project of Beijing Palace Museum outside the mainland.

After the project is completed, it will benefit 7.4 million Hong Kong residents and about 20 million domestic and foreign tourists visiting Hong Kong each year.
