The Interior Ministry calls on police and gendarmes to provide better care for women victims of violence.

To address the subject, Gérald Darmanin was traveling to Avignon (Vaucluse), this Thursday.

He announced an experiment that will take place in four departments, including Vaucluse.

"It is obvious that complaints must be taken at any time of the day or night," said the Minister of the Interior.

He asked the police to collect complaints "outside the walls not necessarily at the victim's home, especially in the context of domestic violence, but in a place defined in advance with her", as a door- word of the national police to our colleagues.

An already existing process

The device is not new, because it is already used to collect complaints from the elderly, or hospitalized, reports

.

This practice, which until now was exceptional, should be extended to women victims of violence in the coming days, in the four “test” departments.

Many officials have been critical of the measure.

They underlined the lack of resources of the police, in terms of manpower and material.

The duration of the experiment remains unknown for the moment.
