In Hiraizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture, where we are promoting efforts to encourage children to learn about local history and traditions, we worked on the practice of "songs" sung by children in Noh.

Since eight years ago, Hiraizumi Town has been promoting an initiative called "Hiraizumi Studies," in which elementary and junior high school students learn about local history and Japanese traditions.

Of these, at "Hiraizumi Municipal Kindergarten / Nursery School", Noh was popular in the Sendai clan that ruled Hiraizumi during the Edo period, so children are practicing "Utai" sung in Noh. ..

About 30 people participated in the lesson on the 26th, and under the guidance of the instructor, they sang a passage of "Kurama Tengu" and "Old Matsu".

Since the children have been practicing every week since May, they seemed to be confused about how to make a unique voice and how to recite them, but now they have improved to the point where they can recite.

The results of the lessons will be shown at the local arts and culture festival on the 6th of next month.

The children who wished to practice said, "It's difficult to sing slowly" and "I'll practice more so that many people can see it."

Mr. Shiro Suzuki, who is the instructor, said, "I am surprised every time I learn greetings and etiquette through the chanting. I want you to become familiar with the chanting even as an adult."
