"Emirati Publishers" holds 24 meetings with international institutions at "Frankfurt Book"

The Emirates Publishers Association transferred the latest Emirati publications to the most famous book fair in Europe and the world during its participation in the 73rd edition of the "Frankfurt International Book Fair 2021", which was held from 20-24 October under the slogan "Re-Meet".

The association’s participation came through a collective pavilion that included four Emirati publishing houses: Kalimat Group, Dar Al Hodhud for Publishing, Astronomy for Publishing and Translation, and House of Culture for Publishing and Distribution. Stories and picture books for children and young adults.

During the fair’s days, Emirati Publishers held 24 meetings with international institutions, companies, publishing houses and book fair managements from several countries, including the Book Fair in Bologna, the Guadalajara Book Fair in Mexico, the Shanghai Children’s Book Fair, the Book Fair in Istanbul and the Nielsen Group.

The association also held meetings with publishers and representatives of publishing houses from Turkey, the United Kingdom, Wales, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, France, Catalan, Japan, Taiwan, India, the United States of America, Canada and China.

All meetings aimed at coordinating the participation of Emirati publishers in upcoming international book fairs in different countries and discussing ways to enhance joint cooperation with representatives of publishing institutions they met in the fields of translation and publishing, strengthening relations between publishers and exchanging experiences to serve the development of the publishing industry and the embodiment of civilized communication between cultures. Through the book as a medium for transmitting culture, knowledge, and inspiring stories and experiences of peoples.

Rashid Al-Koss, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, said: The association's participation in the Frankfurt International Book Fair this year was rich in fruitful meetings, and in light of the efforts of those interested in the publishing industry to discuss opportunities to overcome the effects and repercussions of the pandemic period on this sector, we found interest in what we presented during the meetings that brought us together with publishers and exhibitors.

He added, “We are keen to introduce the experience of the Emirates Publishers Association through the collective platform and pavilions project, through which we transfer Emirati books to readers everywhere. Emirati publishing houses and a number of publishing houses that participated in the Frankfurt Fair.
