The first public health graduate school in Japan will be set up at Ehime University next spring to carry out specialized research across medicine and agriculture, such as infectious disease control and food hygiene.

According to Ehime University, the new graduate school will be named "Medical and Agricultural Fusion Public Health Circle" and will be established next year in April of Reiwa 4 after undergoing national examinations.



At Ehime University Graduate School, research that connects both the medical strengths that have been cultivated so far to study the occurrence and prevention of diseases and the agricultural strengths that have been researching the measurement of environmental pollutants and food hygiene. Education is to be promoted.



According to the university, it is the first public health graduate school in the country that crosses medicine and agriculture.



Five students are recruited for the first year, and a master's degree in public health can be obtained in two years.



At the university, the interest in public health is increasing due to the corona disaster, and the new graduate school aims to train human resources who have knowledge about food and health in addition to medical knowledge.

At a press conference, President Hiroshige Nishina of Ehime University said, "I would like to improve the health of the entire region through the graduate school of medical and agricultural fusion. I also expect it as a place for working people to learn about public health." ..
