The documentary The Lawless was born out of anger over the fact that men accused of sex crimes were allowed to speak on SVT.

The profiled feminists Maria Sveland and Cissi Wallin wanted women to be heard as well, and started a fundraiser.

In September, it became clear that SVT chose to buy the film.

The decision to buy the film has been questioned, partly because SVT in 2018 chose not to buy a documentary that Cissi Wallin made with reference to the fact that she was the subject of a defamation investigation.

Wallin is still the subject of another defamation investigation, but despite that, SVT Dokumentär has chosen to show the film.

- I have made the assessment that it does not matter for this film, because it is not relevant to the story that the film shows, says Axel Arnö, head of SVT Documentary, and continues:

- Everyone thinks it's some kind of revenge film against men, but it's not at all.

It provides another perspective on the metoo debate.

Abbreviations

Axel Arnö has together with Cissi Wallin and Maria Sveland made changes and shortenings in the film before it was posted on SVT Play.

- We must ensure that it is not reported by anyone and that it does not point anyone out.

We have weighed every word on the gold scale, says Axel Arnö.

The outlaws can be seen on SVT Play and will be broadcast on SVT2 on October 28 at

20.00.
