Shadow puppet play, also known as "shadow play" or "deng shadow play", is the oldest "movie" in China, with a history of more than 2,000 years.
Recently, Wan Tiejun, a native of Ningxiang, Hunan who has been in the shadow puppet industry for more than 30 years, makes shadow puppet props at home.
He first drew the pattern on the kraft paper, and then hollowed out the carving with a knife.
After the first edition came out, he gently tore the kraft paper from the middle layer, clamped a thin graphic paper, and carefully painted colors.
In order to prevent the film from getting damp and easy to break, it is necessary to apply varnish. After hanging and drying one by one, these parts are connected in series with thin wires, and finally thin bamboo poles are added to the arms and other parts.
It takes nearly a week to create a shadow man with both deity and shape.
