During the session, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi stressed the importance of adopting a methodology based on collecting and using comprehensive data on the role of national institutions and authorities concerned with the publishing sector in the world, their impact and the size of their contributions, noting that this methodology is an effective way to address the unequal recovery that is expected to be witnessed by publishing centers in emerging markets. during the post-Coronavirus era.

Sheikha Bodour paused at a report issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization on the publishing industry in conjunction with the launch of the exhibition, which WIPO has been cooperating with the International Publishers Association in preparing since 2016, noting that the accurate data and statistics provided by the report will contribute to strengthening the union’s efforts in calling for Issuing policies that support the publishing sector, stressing that it is an important source of information for publishers to enable them to keep abreast of the latest developments in global markets.

During her participation in the International Publishers Association Sustainability Summit, Sheikha Bodour gave a speech in which she emphasized the vital role that the global publishing sector can play in facing two of the most prominent challenges of the era, namely climate change and sustainability, noting the need to change the prevailing view about The publishing industry, whose impact is indirect and limited to providing information, and working to ensure that it plays an active and influential role in overcoming these challenges.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi pointed out that the International Publishers Association was able to convey the voice of all those working in the publishing sector in international forums concerned with development, stressing that the actors in the publishing industry need to mobilize their efforts to identify ways to enhance the sustainability of publishing, and assume more responsibility and adherence to environmental and social standards.

The President of the International Publishers Association attended the European Publishers Association Forum and a series of discussion sessions on the European publishing market, which concluded with the accession of the European Publishers Association and its signing of the “International Charter to Enhance the Sustainability and Resilience of the Publishing Sector”, which collected the signatures of more than 50 international book fairs and organizations concerned with books and cultural work. From different countries of the world, along with the 86 members of the International Publishers Association, who pledged to unite efforts to build a vibrant and sustainable future for the global publishing sector in the post-Corona era.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi also attended the ceremony, which was held on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the International Publishers Association, as well as a dinner party held on the sidelines of the Frankfurt International Book Fair, in which Sheikha Bodour thanked the various national branches, partners, supporting bodies and experts for their continuous cooperation with the Union for Building the global publishing system and enhancing its flexibility and sustainability.

Prior to the start of the Frankfurt Fair, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, along with Jürgen Boss, Executive Director of the Frankfurt International Book Fair, participated in a symposium on a new report unveiled by the International Publishers Association during the fair, entitled “The Sustainability and Resilience of the Publishing Sector (InSPIRe)”, which reflected the visions and perceptions of experts Publishing and partners for the future of the global publishing sector in the post-Corona era.
