La saignée

 by Cédric Sire, published on September 29, 2021 by Éditions Fayard noir.

Her favorite quote:

She used to run here every morning for half an hour, rain or shine.

A necessity, to get rid of the soot of the dark hours and sweaty bodies.

People needed entertainment, cocktails, sex, drugs - whatever made them social animals.

Why this book?

  • Because Cédric Sire sets out in this novel to dissect

    our obsessions and how far they can lead us.

    These impulses can be sexual, violent, in the field of work;

    whatever their nature, we must manage to master them or integrate them into our life, otherwise they can suddenly exteriorize and harm those around us.

  • Because this novel explores the code of the thriller

    while renewing it: from a routine investigation, strings are drawn revealing intricacies that will lead the police teams to an extraordinary and unprecedented affair.

    By exploring the fate of his characters in parallel, Cédric Sire brings us closer and further away from the final twist which will allow all the pieces of the puzzle to be assembled, including through secondary characters more important than initially imagined.
