On October 25, 1926, the Soviet opera singer, People's Artist of the USSR Galina Vishnevskaya was born. Her career began in the mid-1940s with performances on the stage of the Leningrad Regional Operetta Theater. In the 1950s, the artist joined the Bolshoi Theater troupe, where she served for over 20 years. She performed parts in the performances La Traviata, War and Peace, The Taming of the Shrew, The Snow Maiden, The Queen of Spades, Eugene Onegin and others. Vishnevskaya performed on major European stages and founded her own opera center.
