Fire with four dead: residents are said to have left the stove on

The major fire with three dead women and a dead, unborn baby in Reisbach in Lower Bavaria is probably the result of negligence.

A stove that was not switched off could be a possible cause of the fire, the police said on Sunday.

The public prosecutor's office had applied for an arrest warrant against a resident, but the court did not issue it due to the lack of risk of flight.

The suspicion of negligent homicide and negligent arson are in the room.

With the fire on Saturday night, any help came too late for the 20, 55 and 78 year old women.

The 20-year-old was seven months pregnant, according to police.

Rescue workers tried in vain to save the child with an emergency caesarean section.

There were also 19 injured.
