China News Service, October 24. Beijing Wildlife Park issued an official statement on Weibo stating that at about 14:00 on October 23, 2021, tourists illegally broke into the Baihu exhibition area in the self-driving area of Beijing Wildlife Park.

Fortunately, the intruder was not injured due to the safety protection device in the development area and the timely and full rescue by the on-site staff.

The animals in the exhibition area will exit the exhibition area after the staff has driven away and return to the animal shelter safely.

The intruder is currently under investigation after being taken to the hospital by the local police for a physical examination.

The statement pointed out that according to what was learned at the scene: When the staff responsible for the safety inspection of the Baihu exhibition area in the self-driving tour area was patrolling outside the exhibition area, they discovered that a tourist suddenly got off the self-driving vehicle in violation of regulations. The tourist did not have any dissuasion from the staff. I paid attention, but accelerated my pace and ran over the protective slope before jumping into the isolation ditch of the exhibition area.

Upon seeing this, the staff shouted to the intruder not to move, and fed food to the animals to distract them, and quickly reported the sudden situation to their superiors.

During the rescue process, the intruder never obeyed the rescue command of the staff, climbed from the bottom of the isolation ditch to the inside of the exhibition area, confronted the 11 white tigers in the exhibition area, and constantly used words and actions to provoke the animals.

Because there are multiple safety protection facilities and equipment in the exhibition area, a concealed device plays a key protective role, so that there is no substantial contact between the intruder and the animal.

The Beijing Wild Animal Park quickly launched a safety emergency plan after an emergency occurred, and used food lures, throwing firecrackers and other methods to drive animals away from the exhibition area.

Subsequently, the staff entered the exhibition area to subdue the intruders and take them away.

The statement mentioned that Beijing Wild Animal Park would like to thank all the tourists and friends who were driving through the Baihu exhibition area of the self-driving tour area at the time of the incident. It is precisely because you actively cooperated with the instructions and guidance of the staff of the exhibition area to win our rescue work. Precious time and space, let us save a person's life together.
