In the early morning of October 24, the Hong Kong Marathon, which had been suspended for more than two years due to the new crown epidemic, started.

This event is also the first major sports event in Hong Kong with public participation since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

With 18,500 contestants participating in the marathon, half marathon and 10km races, runners must complete two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and undergo nucleic acid testing before the race.

The convention stipulates that runners must wear a mask before starting and take off the mask after about 100 meters from the starting point.

The Acting Chief Executive Li Jiachao of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Commissioner of Police Xiao Zeyi presided over the opening ceremony.
