affects 1,196 buildings, of which 963 correspond to residential use, 124 are agricultural, 57 industrial, 27 leisure and hospitality and 10 correspond to public centers plus another 14 for other uses.

In total, with data from this Wednesday, there are

more than 825 hectares affected

with a lava front of almost three kilometers and 416 people relocated, 47 more than the previous day, with 375 in the Fuencaliente hotel and 41 in the Los Llanos hotel by Aridane.

As for the hounds trapped by the lava, while the preparations for the flight with cargo drones that had been devised to rescue them were being refined, one or more people entered that area and

took the dogs out without knowing anything about it until this Thursday.

7.00 La Laguna hopes that the lava will not sweep away the neighborhood after joining two lava flows

The La Laguna neighborhood of La Laguna (Los Llanos de Aridane) is following with expectation the evolution of the two lava flows that penetrated this Wednesday in its urban area and that, converted this Thursday into one, seem to take a direction that would take them away from that nucleus to head towards the mountain.

That is the least damaging option for that evicted neighborhood, which in the last hours is experiencing the threat of disappearing buried under the lava as happened a few weeks ago to Todoque.

However, the scientific and management committees of the Volcanic Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands (Pevolca) consider a second option: that these flows, now united in a single one that reaches peaks of 1,150 degrees, continue to overcome the different troughs that they find in their path. and end up running down the coastal road, causing further damage.

In anticipation of this scenario, it was decided to urgently and preventively evacuate on Wednesday afternoon the inhabitants of the neighborhoods of Las Martelas, Los Llanos, Marina Alta, Marina Baja, La Condesa, Cuesta Zapata and San Borondón, in Tazacorte , in which there are about 150 people registered.

In reality, there were about 45 evacuated, since the rest had left by their own means hours or days before the crisis committee made this determination, according to the director of Pevolca, Miguel Ángel Morcuende.

The residents of these areas will be able to access this Thursday to remove household items from their homes if the weather conditions and the evolution of the eruptive process allow it.

In total, there are already about 7,000 people who have had to leave their homes at some point since the beginning of the eruption, on September 19.

An expert predicts that the La Palma volcano will last longer than desired

The director of the Landscape Institute of the Duques de Soria Foundation, Eduardo Martínez de Pisón, has predicted this Thursday that the eruptions of the La Palma volcano will be longer than "what we would like", since others have developed for almost two months .

The Emeritus Professor of Geography at the Autonomous University of Madrid, geographer, writer and mountaineer, has limited the impact of the volcano to ten percent of the surface of La Palma, but has indicated that it is affecting a highly populated area, which means a drama.

"At the moment, the volcano is stable. It is mature, working, and has enough time, but expectations cannot be created. Although it will last longer than we would like," he warned, after his trip of several days to the island.

Martínez de Pisón, who was a professor at the University of La Laguna and witnessed the Teneguía eruption in 1971, recalled that there are no methods or sufficient knowledge to predict how long an eruption will last.

"It is not surprising that in the future there will be new eruptions. Man has limited technical capacity in the face of the enormous force of a volcano," he summarized.

He has also expressed his admiration for the inhabitants of La Palma, for presenting "a stoicism" in this eruption, which has been reflected in an "extraordinary" behavior and which, in his opinion, deserves a tribute.
