Ten days after the announcements of the State regarding the commissioning of mini modular nuclear reactors (SMR) by 2035 in France, a first territory is already visible.

This Friday, at the end of the session of the Pays-de-la-Loire regional council, President Christelle Mor Anglais (LR) spoke out in favor of setting up one of these small nuclear power plants on the Cordemais site. (Loire-Atlantique), where the coal-fired power station must close by 2026 after the abandonment of the conversion project.

Christelle Morancais has already discussed the subject with the CEO of EDF.

"The Region wants to be fully part of the" France 2030 "dynamic and contribute to offering the Cordemais site a useful future for employment and industrial know-how, useful for the region, but also, and above all, useful for our environment, considers the regional president. Nuclear energy is clean energy, emitting very little greenhouse gas, which should allow us, in addition to the development of renewable energies, to sustainably support the economic dynamism of our region ”.

@C_MORANCAIS announces that it is ready to work on the installation of a #Nuclear #SMR reactor in Cordemais.

It is a headlong rush when there is an urgent need to move towards 100% renewable energies!

" Flight forward "

The announcement obviously made the elected representatives of the opposition jump, and in particular the environmentalists.

"Such a project would be a headlong rush when there is an urgent need to put back without waiting for the players around the table to make Cordemais a pilot site for the energy transition, without coal or nuclear!"

“, Write the group's elected officials in a press release.

Their allies of France Insoumise even speak of a "madness".
