The Biomedicine Agency launched a major awareness campaign on Thursday to encourage the donation of sperm and oocytes.

With a budget multiplied by five, com 'on platforms aimed at young people (Brut, Deezer, Instagram, etc.) or on television and in the cinema, the agency hopes to be able to fill the shortage of donations.

Because since September 28, 2021, female couples and single women also have access to medically assisted procreation (ART) and the demand for sperm straws is exploding.

The Biomedicine Agency has thus estimated the sperm needs at 3,500 in 2021.

However, in 2019, only 317 men donated their sperm, as our health journalist Oihana Gabiel recently recalled. The urgency is felt, not to mention that from September 1, 2022, an additional condition will be necessary: that the donor accepts that a possible child discovers his identity. Clearly, children born from a gamete donation will be able, if they wish and from the age of 18, to ask an

ad hoc committee

for information on their biological parent. Which risks, according to professionals in the sector, to slow down donors.

Have you already donated your semen or are you planning to do so?

How did your donation go and why did you decide to donate?

How did you find out?

Have you tried to convince your friends, your brother, etc.?

Have you told your partner or family about it?

Have you had greater access to assisted reproduction or access to the origins of the donor in your approach?

Why ?

Have you ever given in a foreign country where it is paid?

You can testify by filling out the form below.

Your testimonials will be used in writing an article.

Thanks in advance.
