A news channel makes a fatal mistake by broadcasting an inappropriate video during the weather report

A Washington state television news channel was hit with a fatal error after the station mistakenly broadcast a short porn clip during a weather report.

The scandalous footage appeared on CBS affiliate KREM at 6:30 p.m. on September 17.

And according to a report in the British "Daily Mail", meteorologist Michelle Boss, while playing the clip behind her, seemed unaware of the fatal error as she told viewers that the state would see additional days of "hot weather", with warm temperatures expected to hit the region.

The clip was later discontinued and the channel subsequently zoomed in on the weather maps being shown.

Meanwhile, viewers who have seen the weather report have been inundated with numerous phone calls, saying they were disturbed by the images.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Spokane Police Department in Washington state began receiving calls regarding what was described as a pornographic or explicit image appearing during a television broadcast.

KREM apologized for the incident hours later, and a channel official said, “Everyone working at the channel wants to apologize for something that happened on the 6pm news bulletin tonight. An inappropriate video was broadcast in the first part of the show. We are working hard to make sure that doesn't happen. Something like that again."

Police are currently investigating, although no one has yet been held responsible.

The channel's management said that it will investigate how the image appeared, and that it is cooperating fully with the police.
