The Shimao city site is located in Shenmu City, Shaanxi Province. It was first built around 4300 years ago and is the largest prehistoric stone fortification site ever discovered in China.

Covering an area of ​​more than 4 square kilometers, there are a large number of palace buildings, house sites, tombs and other relics from the late Longshan culture to the early Xia Dynasty, and a large number of precious cultural relics such as jade, pottery, and bones have been unearthed successively.

  Xi Huidong, deputy dean of the Silk Road Research Institute of Northwest University, said that Shimao's complete urban defense system has laid the foundation for the urban form of future generations.
