For tens of thousands of people in France, the power went out after the storm “Aurore” pulled through.

According to the network operator Enedis, around 250,000 households in the north of the country were without electricity on Thursday.

Around 3,000 Enedis technicians have therefore been on duty in the affected regions since the morning to restore the supply.

"Aurore" had moved across northern France since Wednesday afternoon.

Numerous trees fell, houses were covered, and train traffic was severely disrupted.

In the particularly affected region of Normandy, rail traffic was completely stopped.

The storm moved east on Thursday night.

According to the state railway company SNCF, rail operations on Thursday morning from Brittany to Alsace continued to be significantly impaired.

It should not return to normal until late in the morning.
