The multinational Facebook has today reached an agreement with a group of French newspapers, both national and regional, to

pay for the content of newspapers that share the social network

of

Mark Zuckerberg

. This also happens a

few weeks after Facebook reached two agreements with two other major newspapers in

France

, such as

Le Monde

and

Le Figaro

.

Specifically, the agreement has been signed by the French

General Information Press Alliance

(APIG), which includes newspapers such as Le Parisien, which has concluded the agreement stating that, from now on, "Facebook users will be able to share news freely while ensuring that copyright is protected. "

In fact, France was the first country in the

European Union

(EU) to launch an initiative in 2019 that required large technology platforms to pay for the use of information produced by different media.

Figures on this payment have not been communicated but it is known that arduous negotiations have been necessary to achieve it.

Through this agreement, the media offer "licenses" in what they call "related rights" in relation to their content and Facebook provides remuneration.

In September, the multinational Google already appealed the fine of 500 million for the rights of the news published by the French media.

Everything is due to the recent French copyright law, of 2019. The social network ensures that the agreement complies with the legislation and attends to "the way in which news content is published and shared on Facebook, either by users, or under the control of the publishers ".

"This has been a long process," added the social network, "but it is the result of collaborative, careful and meticulous work."
