Svante Weyler, who has a long career as a publisher behind him, became chairman of the Cultural Council in January 2020. He himself states that he was called to a meeting with Minister of Culture Amanda Lind (MP) State Secretary Emma Rung on Tuesday - and there learned that the Ministry of Culture wants another chairman.

Svante Weyler explains that he assumes that the State Secretary acts on behalf of the Minister of Culture, and that he sent an email to Amanda Lind to tell him that he no longer sees himself as affiliated with the Swedish Arts Council.
He refrains from speculating about why he no longer has the Minister of Culture's confidence, but states that it all feels "a bit snotty".
