538 people have died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in Ukraine.

A record for this Eastern European country hit by a new epidemic wave aggravated by low vaccination coverage.

According to the government's record, 15,579 new infections were also reported, as well as 2,852 new hospitalizations.

Since the start of the pandemic, more than 61,000 people have officially died from the virus in Ukraine.

The country, which has around 45 million inhabitants, is proportionally one of the most bereaved in Europe.

False vaccination certificates are on the rise

Vaccination is very slow there because of the lack of vaccine supply, but also the reluctance of a large part of the population.

Four vaccines are available in the country, but only 16% of Ukrainians have been vaccinated so far, according to official figures.

False PCR tests and false vaccination certificates are proliferating, a phenomenon facilitated by the endemic corruption that plagues this former Soviet republic, considered to be the poorest country in Europe.

Faced with this murderous new wave, Kiev reintroduced in mid-September restrictions for public events and gauges in theaters.
