Two Indian brides arrive at their wedding site with a cooking pot due to floods (video)

An Indian couple roamed flooded streets in the southern Indian state of Kerala inside a giant cooking pot on Monday to reach their wedding venue.

The newlyweds borrowed the pot from a local temple and used two men to push the makeshift boat, and their photos went viral on social media.

"We could never have imagined what happened during the wedding," the bride told the local "Egant" channel on the day of the wedding.

As their wedding venue flooded, the couple were determined to tie the knot in a small ceremony.

"We should have booked a boat instead of a car," a man can be heard saying in the background of one of the videos.

Media reports indicated that the newlyweds work in the field of health care.

Pictures showed cars and buses submerged in flood waters after heavy rains hit Kerala state during the past four days.

The state government said it had evacuated thousands of people and set up more than 100 relief camps.

In 2018, floods killed nearly 500 people across Kerala.

Floods and landslides caused by heavy rain killed at least 27 people across the state.
