The

John Wick

franchise spin-off series

has found its first star.

Mel Gibson has indeed been recruited to play one of the leading roles in the program, entitled

The Continental

, planned for the Starz channel.

According to Deadline, the actor will play a certain Cormac, a character which we do not yet know anything about.

The mini-series, so mini that it should consist of only three episodes, broadcast three nights in a row, will focus on the hotel that we find in all the films of the saga with Keanu Reeves.

In

John Wick

and Its Two Sequel, The Continental is presented as part of a network of establishments created so that criminals around the world can find themselves on neutral ground, close deals and be safe.

Discreet return

The Continental will

take place in the 1970s, as Winston Scott (the hotel manager, played by Ian McShane in the films) is looking at all costs to take over the iconic establishment.

The series will be written by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward.

Chad Stahelski, director of all three feature films, and Derek Kolstad, writer and creator of the franchise, will be executive producers, refusing to leave their babies in anyone's hands.

This will be Mel Gibson's first recurring role on television.

The actor is very discreet since the anti-Semitic and racist statements that have made him more or less persona non grata in Hollywood.

The superstar he was in the 90s and 2000s is now confined to supporting roles in independent or low-budget films.

John Wick

will return to theaters in 2022 with a fourth film, scheduled for May 27.
