Mediapart is launching with the French studios "Midnight Mood" and "La Belle Games" in a video game available on mobile and PC. In "Rubicon, the Conspiracy of Silence", the players play as a whistleblower employed by a multinational corporation, faced with choices that may prove to be of public interest.

The news and investigation site Mediapart has teamed up with video game studios

Midnight Mood

and

La Belle Games

to create

Rubicon, the conspiracy of silence.

A game project that allows you to immerse yourself in the lives of whistleblowers, those people who reveal practices that go against the public interest, often in the course of their work.

The entire video game storyline is based on journalistic work, as well as surveys.

And this is where Mediapart has been of great help.

The players play as a whistleblower, Paula Cole, who works for a fictitious multinational. She is in charge of food safety and finds herself confronted with different situations inspired by real facts and must make choices. Depending on the decisions made by the players, the scenario evolves.

In a press release, François Bonnet, co-founder of Mediapart, explained the purpose of the news site.

"With our partners, we tried a bet: to show that the video game can be the continuation of journalism by other means. And it is successful! By becoming Paula Cole, whistleblower, every player and player of

Rubicon

understand how the disclosure of information of public interest clashes with powerful players, but helps change society. "

The game is available on PC through Steam, as well as on IOS and Android.
