• This adorable animated film is about a lonely kid and his faulty robot.

  • "Ron unblocks" does not lack humor to scratch the bad habits of children too addicted to social networks.

  • This tale celebrates the little flaws and differences that make humans and machines endearing.

Ron is all white, round and he has big eyes.

Ron's

imagined by Jean-Philippe Vine, Sarah Smith and Octavio Rodriguez, is not only cute.

He's also smart!

And the new animated film from Fox, but distributed by Disney, tenderly pokes fun at children's addiction to social networks.

“We were obviously inspired by the children around us who spend more and more of their time in front of their screens while having fun pushing the plug a little further,” explains co-director Jean-Philippe Vine at

20 Minutes

.

The kids in the movie are all accompanied by adorable robots in the shape of electronic capsules whose artificial intelligence has been programmed to become their best friends.

The little hero of the film, whose family is penniless, is offered Ron, a faulty but endearing toy, which will get him all kinds of trouble.

When imperfection becomes a quality

"It is Ron's imperfection, the fact that he functions poorly, which gives him all its specificity and makes it more interesting than perfect machines of other children," insists the filmmaker.

Ron is very cumbersome even when he wants to do well.

Little by little, he will bring the lonely boy closer to comrades so addicted to their electronic companions that they no longer communicate except through them.

“We created Ron's design by trying to imagine an object that young consumers might want to acquire,” explains Jean-Philippe Vine.

We used pre-existing connected objects and then had fun inventing outfits for him to make him cuter.

»And it is a success: Ron is cute with his pom-pom hat!

We dream of owning one!

Family as an asset

The film also evokes the social pressure that children undergo from their peers, whether through social networks or the purchase of expensive items.

“The hero has an unfortunate family with his hapless entrepreneur dad and wacky grandmother.

But he will learn that they are precious supports and that their reciprocal love is a great strength ”, specifies the filmmaker.

Ode to the difference and to the small flaws that make the charm of each and every one,

Ron Unblock

is a pretty surprise full of tenderness and humor.
