According to the Sapporo District Meteorological Observatory, the cold air in Hokkaido was as strong as mid-November, and the cold weather became stronger. In Wakkanai City, sleet fell and the first snow was observed around 2:30 am on the 17th.

This is 2 days earlier than normal and 17 days earlier than last year, respectively, and the first snow observation in the plains is the first in Hokkaido this season.

In addition, the first snowfall was observed at Mt. Teine in Sapporo City on the morning of the 17th, and at Nakayama Pass before 6 am on the 17th, the rain changed to snow and it was thinly piled up on the side of the road.

The lowest temperature until 11:00 am on the 17th was 0 degrees in Kamikawa-cho and 0.1 degrees in Shumarinai, Horokanai-cho, which was the coldest of the season in various places.

The temperature will continue to be low until the 18th, and it is expected that there will be snow on the high-altitude mountain passes and mountains, and the meteorological observatory is calling for attention to the impact of snow and freezing on the road surface.

On the other hand, since the temperature does not drop in the plains of Sapporo City, the observation of the first snow is expected to be ahead.
