After a 19-year partnership, a seriously ill patient said yes to her loved one in the intensive care unit in a clinic in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The nursing team from the Johannes Wesling Clinic had decorated the nursing room with balloons, family photos and hearts, the Minden registry office was immediately ready to carry out the bedside wedding, announced the Mühlenkreiskliniken on Friday.

Petra K. from Hille and her groom wanted to encourage others with their special wedding not to give up their own dreams even in the most difficult times, it said.

"We were both married before and at the beginning of our partnership we agreed that we do not want to marry again for the time being," the clinic quotes the groom.

In the meantime, however, the seriously ill patient had realized: As long as she was still able, she wanted to marry her partner, who was by her side day and night.

And so, in addition to the closest family members, the first well-wishers also included the employees of the intensive care unit at the Minden University Hospital.

The biggest wedding wish was then also fulfilled: The patient's state of health has improved so much that she can leave the intensive care unit.
