The slash youth refers to a group of people who no longer meet the lifestyle of a "single career", but choose to have a diverse life with multiple occupations and identities.

These people will be distinguished by slashes in their self-introductions, for example: Zhang San, reporter/actor/photographer.

"Slash" has become synonymous with them.

The protagonist of this article's news is over 60 years old, so he is called "slash" uncle.

The "slash" uncle who frequently crosses boundaries starts a media company at the age of 58 to pursue his dream

Lao Wan, whose real name is Wan Xingfu, was born in Yanji City, Jilin Province. He is 65 years old this year.

He has run a brick factory, planted trees, worked as a chef, worked as a study abroad agency, and opened a travel agency. Now he is a photographer and boss with multiple identities. He is an out-and-out "slash" master.

After decades of ups and downs, there have been "highlight moments" and have also fallen into troughs.

At the age of 58, he suddenly had a new idea and wanted to do something he liked.

Lao Wan told reporters that in 2014, after seeing a photo taken by a classmate who was a photographer, he was shocked and inspired by this to start his own business and start his own photography dream.

As he said, he started to study which camera equipment is good and which machine is cost-effective with the computer every day.

After the Spring Festival, he took his savings to Zhongguancun, Beijing, and bought 220,000 yuan in equipment, Steadicam, rail cars... He brought all these big photographers back to Jilin, and recruited 4 young people to establish the establishment. The media company is ready to do a big job.

In March 2019, Lao Wan started operating his own Douyin account.

This year, he was 63 years old, but he caught the blast of short videos and gained 800,000 fans in just one and a half years.

In the temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius, he photographed the smart and cute wild sable after squatting in the mountains for 3 days. After posting 4 videos, the account "Boom".

One of the sable videos received more than 3 million likes, the series of video views exceeded 200 million, and the account gained 1.3 million fans in one breath.

"Diligence" is Lao Wan's persistence in life.

He told reporters, “Not only must be diligent, but also intelligent, and find success in the midst of continuous failure. My personality is like this. Once I want to do something, I will do it well. At the beginning, I planned to do photography. I don’t have any lofty ambitions, I just think I can do what others are capable of. Everything is difficult at the beginning, but as long as you start to do it, you will always be able to do it well."

A one-year itinerary that can circumnavigate the earth and a half-shot video won awards at foreign film festivals

When the media company was first established, Lao Wan didn't know anything about photography. Among the four young people he recruited, the only one who had contact with photography was a young man who had done a wedding.

What should I do if the technology is not good?

Can only bite the bullet and learn by yourself.

Lao Wan took the staff to learn to shoot together, and local folk customs, food, dance, etc. were all recorded by his lens.

From spring to winter, Lao Wan drove 50,000 to 60,000 kilometers a year-about 40,000 kilometers in a circle around the equator, and Lao Wan traveled nearly one and a half times around the earth every year.

In the first year of the company's establishment, in order to practice skills, Lao Wan took a few young people to make stage plays.

After the video was completed, he gave the film free to major streets and villages in Yanji City.

At the end of 2014, Lao Wan's hard work for a year finally paid off. More than 70 stage plays he filmed were affirmed, and he earned his first "large sum" of 100,000 yuan.

In the spring of the second year, Lao Wan took his team to Hunchun City, Jilin Province, and shot a five-minute short film "Ecological Hunchun Migratory Bird Paradise". This short film won praise from local leaders.

Lao Wan specially asked for dubbing and subtitles. He made five versions in Mandarin, English, Russian, Korean and Japanese, and sent them to Russia to participate in the 2016 Russian Binhai International Film Festival. He was awarded the "Lighthouse Award" by the Organizing Committee and also won The opportunity to be broadcast on Russian television.

When the film was over at the closing ceremony of the conference, there was thunderous applause from the audience.

In the beginning, Lao Wan invested 600,000 to 700,000 yuan, but hardly any income.

Buy a car, buy a drone, and let the team members go to Beijing to learn control technology.

When aerial photography was not popular enough, Lao Wan and the others took an aerial promotional video of "Looking at Yanji from the Perspective of God".

In the end, the film was exhibited in Yanji, Chongqing, Hong Kong and other places, raising the popularity of Lao Wan's team.

In the later time, his team shot more good works, and the company developed more and more prosperously. Now the total annual income has reached five or six million yuan.

Shooting 117 short videos, attracting more than 3 million fans and 37 million likes

At the age of 60, Lao Wan started to formally learn photography, photographing various wild animals such as steller's sea eagles and egrets.

Lao Wan said: "This is a kind of fun. For example, if I took a good shot today and a clearer video, I have a lot of satisfaction. This kind of fun makes me irresistible."

In the beginning, Lao Wan went to shoot alone.

"I drove by myself. I left at 3 o'clock in the morning and drove one and a half hours to Hunchun. I had to arrive before dawn and seize an hour or two before 6:30 to shoot. After the shooting, I would drive back to work. Strive to be at the company before 8 o'clock." In the first year, Lao Wan went back and forth to Hunchun more than a dozen times to photograph wild animals.

In the second year, he learned more and more about the habits of animals.

When the sea eagles will come and when the red-crowned cranes will come, we have basically mastered the time.

At a certain time, he drove there. In order to save time, he sometimes stayed there for several days.

Lao Wan told reporters, "Autumn is here, the leaves have fallen in the forest, and various birds and animals have appeared. Around the end of October, Changbai Mountain began to freeze, so I put on a sheepskin coat, sheepskin pants, and wool shoes, and went to the mountains to squat and watch. Little animals. Although the weather in the northeast is cold, as long as we can take a satisfactory video, we are all happy. In summer, I feel uncomfortable because there are too many leaves in July to October, and basically nothing is photographed. It's empty."

With such shooting and accumulation, his Douyin account has released 117 works. Among them, "Following the Growth of Little Owl" has been updated to episode 24, which has 140 million views.

In order to record the growth of owls, he used the lens to observe the owls laying eggs, hatching, and flying away, and photographed the complete process through two or three months of squatting.

The collection of "National First-Class Protected Animals" has been updated to episode 14, with 320 million broadcasts, including wild sable, Siberian tiger, Steller's sea eagle, hazel rooster and other rare animals.

Today, his account has 3.27 million followers and 37 million likes.

Shooting wild animals in the ice and snow makes the ordinary life "hot"

Shooting wild animals in the snow and ice is not an easy task.

In Lao Wan's view, falling into an ice hole during shooting is a trivial matter.

Because of shooting in severe cold weather for a long time, he suffered from heel pain, which hurts badly every time it was cold.

But he still feels that these are not enough.

However, he has also had the experience of being scared after thinking about it.

Lao Wan told reporters, “During the shooting a few years ago, thick snow covered the puddles. I accidentally fell into it and the snow hit my shoulders. Fortunately, I went with a friend that time and he left me. More than 100 meters, finally rescued me."

Despite the hard work, Lao Wan didn't intend to stop.

This year, according to his hometown's algorithm, he is 65 years old.

At this age when most people choose to retire, he said: "I want to struggle for another ten years and will not stop before the age of 75. Life is so short, if you retire in your 60s and have nothing to do all day. It's boring. People have different ideas. People like me who think very random will choose to keep tossing. In addition, I also want to contribute to society and do more things that are meaningful to society. For example, shooting wild animals, advocating everyone to love animals and protect nature together."

In Lao Wan's view, "unprofessional" is not a threshold or barrier, but it gives people a broader vision.

Lao Wan has more new ideas, and he will continue to "toss" in his future life.

As he has always believed, keeping freshness and courage can make the ordinary life "hot."
