The municipality of the city of Yvelines unveiled on Tuesday its project to build a new tourist office, reports

Total cost of operations: four million euros.

A strategic investment as France will organize the Olympic Games in three years and should welcome 13 million visitors on this occasion.

Versailles is also one of the host cities since it will host the equestrian events of these Olympics-2024.

The construction of a tourist office was already a campaign commitment reminded our colleagues the mayor of the town.

“Today we are tenants, we pay dearly for a very small and not very visible room.

There, we will fall directly on it when leaving the station, we will be able to promote Versailles hotels and local products with the opening of a boutique, ”enthusiastic François de Mazières.

Molière in the spotlight

The project was entrusted to the architect Philippe Chiambaretta, famous for having redesigned the avenue des Champs-Elysées but also redeveloped the Total Tower of Defense.

Wood and stone are the two preferred materials for the construction of the building, which is intended to be bright, both classic and modern.

There is also a project for a grove adjoining the building where locals and tourists can relax and enjoy a corner of greenery, continues the daily Ile-de-France.

Highlight of the project: the commission from the sculptor Xavier Veilhan for a statue of Molière, inspired by the one at the entrance to the Comédie française in Paris and which should take pride of place in these gardens.

The sculpture and the grove are expected to be unveiled next summer.

Finally, the construction work of the tourist office of the city of Versailles should begin in September 2022.
