Kuwait bids farewell to director Khaled Al-Siddiq, owner of "Bas Ya Bahr"

Kuwaiti film director and author Khaled Al-Siddiq, who is considered the pioneer of the Kuwaiti cinematic movement, has passed away for presenting many works of art, including the movie “Bas Ya Bahr” written by Abdul Rahman Al-Saleh, “The Wedding of Al-Zein” based on the novel of the great Sudanese writer Al-Tayeb Salih, and “Shaheen” on the novel Italian writer Boccaccio.

The late Khaled Al-Siddiq worked in Kuwait TV as a director, and started in the engineering department and then took the position of studio director, and his first official assignment was in 1964, when the TV commissioned him to represent him at the Monte Carlo Festival, and after his return he collaborated with Abdul Wahab Sultan, head of the cinema department at Kuwait TV at the time, In the establishment of a cinematic section, he presented eight distinguished films and documentaries, including: “Al-Matrood” (1964), a short dramatic film produced and directed by Al-Siddiq, and “The Falcon” (1965), a documentary film that tells about falconry methods, and he wrote the script for him, was produced and directed by him. The film won promotional awards.

The late represented Kuwait in 1966 at the Czech Film Festival, and Al-Siddiq received a certificate of appreciation. In 1969, he received appreciation awards, gold and bronze medals, the Carthage Film Festival award in Tunisia, and the State Appreciation Award in 2010.
