Rising prices for gas, electricity, diesel ... These are all subjects that the government is watching with attention, says Emmanuel Macron.

“There will be short-term action to support households.

The government is working on it and will have to complete its response in the coming days depending on developments so as not to leave anyone in disarray, ”he said during a trip to Saint-Denis.

Yesterday, his spokesperson Gabriel Attal mentioned “several possible avenues”, including a reduction in taxes finally ruled out for the sake of fairness, because it “would also benefit those who have a 4x4 or an SUV”.

And if the rise in prices affects all French people, the Head of State ensures not to "underestimate what it represents on the budget" of the most modest and of "those who have forced travel and who are therefore forced to refuel every day ”.

Diplomatic action against Russia?

Recalling the work of the government already carried out on the subject, in particular the establishment of the energy check or the blocking of the regulated gas tariff, the President of the Republic declared to carry out in parallel "a diplomatic action to try to constrain these prices", with the main exporting countries like Russia.

He also took the opportunity to talk again about the France 2030 plan, in particular on nuclear objectives.

“All this teaches us one thing: we have to carry out a strategy of decarbonising our energy,” he insists.
