Associations and groups demonstrated against poor housing in front of a squat rue Spréafico, in Villeurbanne (Rhône), this Wednesday, when the police intervened to evict the inhabitants of the building.

Some of them took refuge on the roof.

Among the occupants of the squat are undocumented migrants, asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors;

some had already been evicted from an abandoned building in Feyzin on September 16.

Collectives denounce hypocrisy

An unfortunate timing as the Hospitality Week started.

Organized by the Métropole de Lyon until October 23, this Week offers workshops, events and conferences, on the theme "acting together for hospitality and solidarity".

A collective of support for the evicted denounced a hypocrisy: “We thought that the new majority in the Metropolis and in the town hall of Villeurbanne would mobilize to enforce the right to housing, but the evictions of squats in unoccupied premises belonging to the Metropolis continue, ”one of its members told

Progress.
