The Shanxi Provincial Government Information Office held a flood prevention and disaster relief press conference on October 12. Wang Qirui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Shanxi Provincial Emergency Management Department, introduced that since the heavy rains on October 2, Shanxi Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Changzhi, Jincheng, Linfen Part of the production coal mines in the 6 municipal areas including, Yuncheng, etc. were affected by the heavy rainfall, and took temporary emergency stop production and evacuation measures by themselves.

As of now, except for 4 coal mines that are still in a state of suspension, other coal mines have resumed production.

Among the 4 coal mines still in production, 3 mines in Linfen City have a total production capacity of 3.6 million tons/year. Due to the large downhole water influx, production will resume soon after the hidden dangers are eliminated. One mine in Taiyuan City has a production capacity of 1.2 million tons/year. In 1999, production was suspended due to a landslide blocking the coal transportation road, and production can be resumed after the coal transportation road is unblocked.

In general, although the heavy rainfall caused some coal mines to temporarily stop production, the shutdown time was very short and would not have a significant impact on Shanxi's coal supply.
