Thirty years after Hubble, the James Webb space telescope, its worthy successor, is due to fly from Kourou in Guyana aboard Ariane 5 on December 18.

The JWST is the result of a long-term collaboration between NASA, the Canadians, and the European Space Agency, of which France is a driving force.
