China News Service, Shijiazhuang, October 12th, title: The old veteran who records history: Let the heroic story of his hometown circulate forever

  Author Zhao Danmei

When I saw Li Lanxiang, the old man was lying on the table wearing reading glasses and writing something. The small desk was full of manuscripts, materials about Zanhuang County veterans, and history books.

Looking at the stories of veterans that he had compiled over the years, Li Lanxiang's thoughts seemed to return to that period of prosperous years.

Li Lanxiang, 84, is a native of Zanhuang County, Hebei Province and a veteran.

Beginning in 2007, Li Lanxiang, who has a deep affinity for the army, began to search for Zambian veterans. In the past 14 years, a total of 128 Zambian veterans who participated in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the War of Resist America and Aid Korea were interviewed. They were guerrillas and underground workers. , Anti-Japanese veterans...The deeds of these people have been compiled into a book by Li Lanxiang.

The picture shows Li Lanxiang going to visit the veteran Zhao Danmei.

Speaking of the original intention of writing heroic stories, the old-aged old man bluntly said: "There are more than a dozen soldiers in our family. Since I was a child, I have been affected by my family. I have feelings for the army." Whenever he talks about military life and heroic deeds, President Li Lanxiang It was a surging heart, so the idea of using words to retain the years gradually emerged.

At first, Li Lanxiang obtained information about the veterans through the Civil Affairs Department of Zanhuang County, but the introduction was only a few words, which made him a little bit disappointed.

"Every veteran is unique. They are people who have experienced the rain of bullets. They are heroes fighting for peace. History should remember them." Therefore, he secretly made up his mind to fill this gap.

"I didn't have any experience at the beginning, so I went to the village, but only after I found out that the veteran had passed away." Li Lanxiang said, he ran a lot of wronged roads, and then gradually fumbled through various channels to get in touch with the villagers in the village where the veteran was. , Confirm that the veteran can accept the interview before going.

But some roads have to be run repeatedly, and some things have to be repeated.

In order to verify a problem, Li Lanxiang will also interview their comrades in arms, relatives, and check the short notes on the veteran's merit certificate to verify whether the content is true.

In order to interview veteran Wang Taiping, Li Lanxiang ran to his home 12 times in a year.

Finally, in the Battle of Shangganling, a series of unexcavated touching deeds such as Xu Fengchao and Wang Taiping of the Chinese People's Volunteers who gave way to each other for a soybean after a food shortage for many days.

"What I remember is that in 2015, 45 veterans died during the three months I interviewed." What makes Li Lanxiang even more emotional is that many veterans are getting older and can't even remember their family members, but they still remember their comrades in arms. The name and number of the unit.

In order to "retain" this period of history, Li Lanxiang accelerated the recording speed.

Since he doesn't know how to use a computer, Li Lanxiang can only record by hand, and then ask someone to organize it into a book.

In the past 14 years, Li Lanxiang used thousands of refills and wrote more than 2 million characters, leaving precious historical materials for future generations.

"I've been to Fujian 6 times, and I've been to 13 provinces across the country." Li Lanxiang's pensions over the years have basically been spent on interviews with veterans.

Faced with the father's "stubbornness", the children have become accustomed to Li Lanxiang's "travel" of leaving.

On New Year's Eve in 2016, Li Lanxiang heard the news that a super combat hero from Zanhuang County was in Fuzhou. Before that, he had been looking for this veteran for many years without success.

"I flew straight to Fuzhou early on the first day of the Lunar New Year, and conducted a 75-minute audio and video interview with him." Although the interview went through many twists and turns, Li Lanxiang was happy.

"I have a lot of data in my mind, but my body is not good enough. I must hurry up to record it and watch the day." Li Lanxiang said many times that the country's preferential care system is becoming more and more perfect, and people from all walks of life are concerned about veterans. The warmth also strengthened his determination to record the deeds of the veterans.
