At around 8 o'clock on October 11, on the Wenyu River embankment near Nanqiaotou Village in Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province, a 3-meter-wide spillway was successfully excavated, which accelerated the drainage of stagnant floodwater in the village.
Since October 7th, affected by heavy rainfall, a large area of water accumulated in Nanqiaotou Village, with the deepest point reaching about 2 meters.
Since the village was flooded, local governments at all levels responded positively. At 6 am on the 8th, the transfer of more than 1,000 people from the village was completed.
At present, all parties are carrying out drainage work, and the water level in the village has dropped significantly.
