Place Kléber will soon find a little green again.

As part of its "Canopy Plan", the city of Strasbourg will replant five trees in pits in the square which have been empty for several years.

The trees selected (two honey beans, a hop charm, a hackberry from Provence and a black pine from Austria) have the characteristic of resisting both heat peaks and Strasbourg winters.

Preparatory work began this week.

The objective: to establish a bearing and fertile soil for the future trees.

In order to reach 30% of the canopy area by 2050, the community wants to plant 10,000 trees on the territory of the city.
