Bahrain bids farewell to the "father's nurse.. Al-Dakhtar Habib"

Bahrain mourns Haji Habib Ghaith, who is described as the ruler's nurse, and the first citizen to practice the profession of nursing in the country.

The late Emir of Bahrain, Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who ran the country from 1961 to 1999, was called the “father’s nurse.”

Al-Ayyam newspaper reported that the deceased was known as "Al-Dakhtar Habib" and that he joined the Victoria Memorial Hospital, which is located next to his family's home, in 1938, at an early age, and "came out as the first Bahraini nurse from his region and even the country."

This pioneering Bahraini nurse was "in the front rows in the face of many epidemics and diseases that swept the country, such as smallpox, Abu Saffar, dysentery, fever, malaria, trachoma, ophthalmia and others."
