Since October 3, Shanxi Province has experienced continuous heavy rainfall over a large area.

At 9:50 on October 6, affected by heavy rainfall, the foot of the abutment of the Changyuan River Railway Bridge between Qixian and Dongguan of Nantongpu Railway was emptied, sleepers were suspended, and both the up and down lines were interrupted.

The Nantongpu Railway is an important passenger and cargo transportation channel running through the central and southern parts of Shanxi. There are 60 pairs of trains daily, including more than 30 coal transportation trains.

China Railway Taiyuan Bureau Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Taiyuan Bureau Group Company) found a dangerous situation while inspecting the equipment at the bridge tunnel in the Jiexiu Bridge Tunnel Workshop of Taiyuan Public Works Section.

"At that time, I found that the roadbed was washed up and the sleepers were hanging in the air, and the down line was immediately blocked. Due to the rapid development of the flood, I was checking the up line. When I was about to take measures, a train came. I ran and waved my hands. Stop the train in time."

After the danger occurred, the Taiyuan Bureau Group Company mobilized more than 1,500 construction workers to carry out rescue work day and night.

At 21:20 on October 8th, after full rush repairs, the upper line of the Changyuan River Bridge on the Nantongpu Railway, which was interrupted by heavy rainfall, was rushed through.

On the afternoon of the 10th, the reporter saw at the scene that loaders and excavators were throwing rubble, stone ballast, and waste sleepers into the bottom of the collapsed roadbed to block the impact of the flood and protect the roadbed.

Due to the complex on-site environment, emergency repairs are mainly based on mechanical operations.

The rubble was transported to the bridgehead by emergency trains, thrown into the bottom of the collapsed roadbed.

“At present, we are carrying out the operation of transporting and unloading rubble at the site. Each time, five carriages are pushed from the station, manually unloaded by an excavator, the rubble is dumped into the roadbed, and the car returns to the station to carry the rubble. The cycle is like this, and the operation is uninterrupted for 24 hours." Song Xinsheng, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Jiexiu Bridge Tunnel Workshop of the Taiyuan Engineering Section of Taiyuan Bureau Group, admitted that this was the biggest flood since joining the work.

Not far away, Xu Pengjin, the foreman of the key repair workshop of the Taiyuan Public Works Section of Taiyuan Bureau Group Company, is measuring the line on the upstream line.

He told reporters that the line must remain stable, and that the track height, level and direction conditions must be observed every time a train passes, and it is guaranteed for 24 hours to make the train pass smoothly.
